vim for windows mobile: vimo, demo exe

Vim 7.2 for windows mobile is available at:

mobiphil.com/vim.exe

This version still needs a lot of cleanup, just uploaded for “demo” reason.

Among other problems the environment variables are hardcoded:

HOME = /SDMMC/MySystem/home

VIM = /SDMMC/MySystem/Programms/Vim

VIMRUNTIME = /SDMMC/MySystem/Programms/Vim

PATH= /SDMMC/MySystem/Programms/Vim

Hi mp,
I’m a new convert to vim, and I’m really interested in getting a copy of it for Windows Mobile. Unfortunately the file doesn’t run on my WinMobile 6.1 phone. It says either its missing a library or it’s not signed. Also I don’t know if the hard-coded variables will prevent it from working, because I don’t know if Storage Card is a prettifier of SDMMC…

Thanks for your feedback.

1. you need the runtime libraries (see http://cegcc.sourceforge.net/docs/dll.html)
2. if you do not have a storage card, or your SDMMC is mapped somewhere else, then please create a root directory SDMMC and create the necessary directories under /SDMMC

I wanted to change the hard codded variables to match my system a bit better. Where can I find the source for your package?

My last post was a little rude. Sorry about that. I am just beginning programming and figured changing hard coded variables would be an easy way to look at code but saves me from having to change a bunch of stuff. Thanks for any help.

Hi phil,

Thanks for posting this. I went to the ceGCC site you pointed to, and downloaded and installed the following DLLs to the \Windows directory on my Treo Pro (WM 6.1):
- cegcc.dll
- cegccthrd.dll
- libstdc++.dll
- mingwm10.dll

The error I now get is: ” ‘vim’ is not a valid Pocket PC application. ”

It’s possible that I downloaded the wrong version of the dlls (I downloaded v 59.1).

Would you post the dlls necessary to run this exe, or point to the correct versions? I’m excited to run Vim 7.2 on my phone — we’re so close! :)

Thanks for your hard work.

Craig

I installed the dlls as well and VIM still wont run, would it be possible to create a single package (.rar) containing all that would be needed to run this, and some instructions

Hello “mobiphil”,

this is a nice project of you and i love it.
Unfortunately the *.exe file isn’t downloadable anymore. Have you an update? Or can you tell me how you exactly compile it with cegcc?

Best Regards
Lukas
