There is an interesting description about an android port to nvidia tegra platform. http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/17/nvidias-tegra-in-the-flesh-booting-to-android-and-pumping-out/
I tuned my google news alert for nvidia tegra, and I am getting more and more exciting information about the feature of the new platform. It is predicted that Microsoft’s Zune HD, which is based on nvidia tegra, will be an iPhone killer soon… The funny thing is that there is no clear pricing information, however I heard that nvidia tegra based devices can be as low as 200$ per unit.
Well, I knew few days after I bought openmoko that it was the worst investment in my life
I am sad to read on Herald Welte’s, Slashdot, H-online that the project is half over. Well it is unclear what is the state as all the news information say different things. There is an email exchange between some of the guys involved in the project, but it is unclear what the project B means. I am confident that the project will survive!
Well, compared with Om 2008.9, the openmoko stack without X11 the qt extended stack seem to be much much faster on openmoko. Honestly I do not understand why this agony with enlightement libraries and the old and bad X11, when there are much better ways to talk to the graphic cad than X11, and make the user happy…
Well apparently it was a bad idea, and a little disappointment to buy the openmoko for more than 300Euros, when sthg. like the eten X800 is available for around 300 euros, but at least it has a working software stack…:) and with minimal effort a linux can be built for it…
With an ideal weight (1.5kg) my old laptop sony vaio with only 128 MB memory and a processor at 500Mhz was too weak for the big linuxes or windowses. With a custom linux kernel and X windows, firefox is not able to load more than 2 pages.
I build the linux version of Qt embedded 4.5 and the example and demo application seem to load unbelievable fast. Even the simple WebKit based browser seem to load at a super speed compared with and browsing is really a pleasure.
However, and this is a negative point, the Qt Designer application makes my computer hanging. Network, keyboard mouse everything dead…
Downloaded skyfire another candidate for windows mobile internet browser. Well, this one fails to show it’s other half… I mean the application shows just half of it on the screen…
Installed opera 9.51b2 on eten m800. After loading cnn.com, got a funny message: Out of memory. Please close a tab to free memory. Well I closed one… the first one…
Well, there is so far no google chrome for windows mobile devices, but there is another implementation based on the same engine (http://webkit.org/) and can be found at http://www.torchmobile.com/.
Google chrome is out, I worked with it on windows xp 1 day (the first day:), and can say, that among other features it is pretty fast compared to others: firefex, internet explorer, opera.
With iris on pocket pc is also had good experience. After trying the new opera mobile beta, the firefox minimo, iris is a revelation. Google chrome is also a revelation.
